Men also become victims of domestic violence!

Domestic violence against men - Wikipedia

Domestic Violence Against Men

When most people hear the term "domestic violence," they often assume that a man is the aggressor. While this may be true in many of the reported cases, domestic violence against men is more common than you may think and can pose a serious threat to its victims. Fortunately, men are generally protected just as women are under most domestic violence laws. Domestic Violence Defined The term "domestic violence" covers a broad range of violent acts committed by one member of a family or household against another. Domestic violence against men is a very strange topic, we think less about it whenever we talk about domestic violence, then the same thought and picture comes in our mind, that surely a man has done some cruelty on a women, but now time has changed it is not wrong to say that now men are also treated in same way, now men also go through with domestic violence, not only on home but on work places. violence with men can occur with small vendors, labours, masons, servants, worker etc. It often refers to the mistreatment of a child or spouse and can include not only physical harm, but also threats and verbal, psychological, and sexual abuse. The key distinction between domestic violence and more general assault crimes is the relationship of the abuser to the victim.Types of Abuse Most of the time, domestic violence against men only gets any attention when a celebrity is the victim of some kind of noteworthy physical harm.

Inreality, this kind of violence is often foreshadowed by actions thatmay not seem like domestic violence the surface, but do, in fact, represent a series of abuses against the men such as:

Using insults, name-calling, and other berating language.

Interfering with him seeing his family and friends.

Threatening to expose embarrassing personal information to others.

Showing oppressive possessiveness or jealousy.

Restricting his spending or controlling his finances.

Shoving, slapping, or otherwise striking him.

Threatening harmto themselves or others as a way to "punish" him.

Under-reporting of Domestic Violence Against Men

Getting exact numbers on domestic violence overall is difficult since so many cases go unreported, but it's even tougher to figure out just how many men are suffering abuse. A big part of the reason is traditional gender roles in society and the stigma of the perceived weakness of any many who admits to falling victim to a woman. Despite some research suggestingthat men and women commit domestic violence against each other in equal numbers, the reported victims are overwhelmingly female.

Part of the reason for the disparity in reported victims might also be because men who call police to report domestic violence against them fear that they will end up being the ones getting arrested. Domestic violence against men victims can be particularly reluctant when children are involved, since leaving them with the woman leaves the kids at risk for harm, but attempting to take the children out of the situation risks giving the impression that the man is abducting them. So long as the common misconception persists that men are always the abuser and women are always the victim, it's unlikely that male victims will feel comfortable reporting their abuse. What to do if you’re the Victim of Domestic Abuse victim of domestic abuse is still a victim, no matter the gender of the attacker. Even as a man, you need to take violence against you seriously, even if you're significantly larger or stronger than the woman, since little things can escalate into more dangerous situations. Self-restraint is important, so be sure to control your emotions and physical actions, especially in states that mandate at least one party be arrested in domestic violence calls. In many jurisdictions, the police will arrest the "primary attacker," who may or may not be the person who initiated the abuse.

While it sounds simpler than it may be, male victims of domestic violence need to tell someone about it get out of the situation. There are support organizations in every state if you're uncomfortable talking to anyone you know. If the abuse persists, consider an order of protection or restraining order to give yourself additional legal recourse against their attacker. If you're unsure of your options or need assistance in getting legal protection, consult a domestic relations attorney in your area.

Does Bollywood movies reflect Indian society ?

What are the negative impacts of Bollywood movies on Indian society or youth culture?

Quest: 'Television has negative impact too' | Cities News,The ...

Today my blog is not about what crime is happening around us, what is the reason of crime. Today I will talk about how few Bollywood movies make negative impact on our mind. It is also true that there are many movies which teach us so much that we cannot learn from real life which we also say in easy language that this movie was worth watching. This movie was so good. But our Bollywood directors sometimes make such Bollywood movies in which they depict fake feminism, alcoholism and fake Indian society culture which is not true. Viewing movies with sex, violence, drug abuse, adult themes, and offensive language can have a negative effect on children and adolescents. Many movies are not appropriate for children.

What are the things that we should not learn from our Bollywood movie?

1.Having a relationship with multiple girls makes you cool dude.

2.Being obedient or sincere to your parents is out of fashion and if you are one you are stupid.

3.Drinks, smoke, pubs, bar and sex is the only way to enjoy the life.

4.Women empowerment in wrong direction. Movies depict girls who smoke, drink, roam around with multiple BFs are actually empowered. Obedient/sincere girl towards parents is always shown as stupid girls.A girl following Indian culture, not wearing western cloths is tagged as ‘BehenJi’ or ‘Jalli’. So if you don’t follow western culture you are an idiot.

5.Using ‘F’ word in almost all statements is another way of showing off your education.

6.There is no destination for enjoy in India. All the foreign locations are hyped for honeymoon, vacations etc. India does have lots of beautiful places, its just we don’t realize it. “Ghar ki Murgi Daal Barabar” (Its a slang which means our own Chicken has lesser values than lentins, its used to realize people that you are ignoring something just because its easily available)Lots of negative things on Indian education system. I agree there are few problems, but the bigger problem is in Society mentality which believes in the comparison of own child with some  child and believe that if he can thrown child can also become engineer / doctor etc. Whatever education we have, it has the potential for enabling us to work in any location of the world.

7.Lots of focus on Live-In relationships. My personal view is, we are over promoting this as a valid culture (big debate can start right here, but its my personal opinion)I am not against the movies and I love them. But the thing is video affects more than texts so for youths whatever they see on "reel" consider it "real".

8.Not all Bollywood movies create a bad impact on the audience .There are movies which inspires us , makes us laugh , makes us think, question etc. There are some movies which are worth watching. There are not many people in the industry who work very hard to give you some excellent quality movies. Movies which can change our thought process. Here are some of my favourites ones Baghban, Zindagi na milegi dobara, dhobi ghat, Lootera, swadesh, Bhag milkha bhag, city lights, haider, Madras cafe, Lunchbox, Highway. The list can go on.

9.Things that cause a negative impact on the audience-showing other cultures wrongly (Chennai express can be a good example )Love failure means suicide (Aashiqui 2.Though are some very good movies regarding love failure but all don't have a negative impact )though this was worst of all probably all shajid Khan movies have a negative impact on the audience. Movies with drugs scenes can have a negative impact. Movies in which using cheesy lines to get girls and making fun of a women's body can impact in a very negative way ,making the audience think that if the actor can get girls like that why can't we .Killing someone we hate is "cool"These are some of the things that can have a negative effect on the audience.

10.Watching good movies will definitely have positive effect on you. You will feel more confident or can make you thing in a different perspective.I am not against Bollywood movies in any form, but yes I am against depicting sex, fake feminism and fake Indian society culture, showing youth a wrong thing or promoting any wrong habits, as a comedy, we cannot call it a movie. We often watch movies to pass our free time or to learn something good or to be entertained, but if the same entertainment platforms show/frame something wrong then it affects our mind a lot. Showing fake Indian culture will put negative impact on children's mind the upcoming generation start adapting a wrong culture, promotion drugs, alcohol sex, in a movie we cannot call it a entertainment or movie.

What is Positive and Negative Affect in Psychology? Definitions + ...

This is a request to all of you. Listen well, watch well and speak well, oppose the wrong thing and boycott such movies that depict fake feminism or fake Indian culture.

Lockdown effects: Crime rate in UP districts down by 70%

Lockdown effects: Crime rate in India down by 70%

Crime rate plunges amid lockdown, but domestic abuse cases may go up
  • Several cities across India have reported a considerable decline in crime rates in the past four months, thanks to the ongoing nationwide lockdown that was imposed to curb the COVID-19 spread.
  • Delhi, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Kolkata, Thiruvananthapuram and Coimbatore reported a 60-90 per cent drop in crimes as compared to last year. However, cases of domestic violence, cyber-crime and violation of lockdown rules are some of the exceptions.
  • In a relief from chasing robbers, chain snatchers and traffic violators, the police are now busy safeguarding areas that have reported positive COVID-19. Besides, they are also continuously tracking those breaking quarantine.
  • The region recorded 35 murders in the last month against 50 in the corresponding period in 2019, while robberies went down from 992 to 114.
  • Crime in Uttar Pradesh fell by 70 per cent in April this year compared to the same period last year, according to UP Police’s Meerut Zone.
  • Police have attributed the fall to policing and lockdown restrictions.
  • Lockdown restrictions in Kashmir have been tightened due to rise in COVID-19 cases.
  • Priorities of the police have now shifted from tracking regular crimes to raising awareness about the pandemic and tracking those who violate home quarantine norms. Due to the lockdown, there are lesser people on the roads and thus we are seeing lesser incidents of crime.
  • During the fortnight starting March 15, the whole of Bengaluru and Kolkata witnessed a 50 per cent drop in crimes. Between March 16 and 31, Lucknow reported 65 per cent lesser crimes compared to the same period last year.
  • In Tamil Nadu, major crimes and fatal accidents recorded since March 24 has been nearly zero while cases of domestic abuse were linked to unavailability of liquor.
  • Although the lockdown has now opened in India, unlock 4.O is about to be implemented with the new rules, it will be expected that despite being unlocked 4.O, the crime rate will be at least.
  • This lockdown has saved many people from the COVID-19. Due to staying at home, less infection has been spread in the people and the crime rate has also seen a decline, although there were some crimes that were happening even after the people were down, such as domestic violence, cyber-crime, small robberies, most of countries have stood united and fighting against the COVID-19.
  • Police personnel of India are working hard to protect people at this time and are also keeping in mind that despite the lock down or the new unlock rules are implemented, the crime rate remains low and every citizen be safe at home.

Classification & Characteristics of Crime

Classification of Crimes

The existence of crime in a society is a challenge to its members due to its deleterious effect on the ordered social growth. In fact, it leads to a colossal waste of human energy and an enormous economic loss. Therefore with the advance in the field of criminology and behavioral sciences, efforts are being constantly made to work out a commonly acceptable classification of crimes and criminals for providing a rational basis of punishment for various categories of offenders.

There are a variety of crimes such as violent personal crimes, occasional property crimes, occupational crimes, political crimes, public-order crimes, conventional crimes, organized crimes, professional crimes, white collar crimes, sexual crimes, crimes against property, person, decency, public order etc.

Broadly speaking, these may be categorized into three heads:
(1) offences falling under Code of Criminal Procedure
(2) offences under Indian Penal Code; and
(3) offenses under local or special laws or enactments.

Some winters have preferred to classify crimes into legal, political, economic, social and miscellaneous crimes.

1. Legal crimes can be termed as traditional crimes such as theft robbery, dacoity, rape, hurt and rioting etc.
2. Political offenses are those which are motivated politically or committed in violation of the election laws or norms set out for the politicians in course of their political activities.
3. Economic crimes include white collar offences such as tax evasion, smuggling, prostitution, gambling, foreign exchange violations, offences under the MRTP (Amendment) Act, 1991 etc.
4. Social crimes are those which are committed under social legislation such as the Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1978; Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955; Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956; Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986; Commission of Sati (Prevention) Act, 1987; The Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 as amended in 1983 and 1986; Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000; Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 etc.
5. All other remaining crimes which are committed under local or special Acts, are .termed as miscellaneous crimes, for example, offences under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954: Drugs Act, 1940; Consumer's Protection Act, 1986; Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs & Psychotrophic Substances Act, 1988 etc.

Classification of offences under I.P.C.

Under the Indian Penal Code, various offences have been classified into seven broad categories on statistical basis:-

1. Offences against person.

2. Offences against property.

3. Offences relating to documents.

4. Offences affecting mental order.

5. Offences against public tranquillity.

6. Offences against State.

7. Offences relating to public servants.

This classification seems to be more rational and elaborate from the point of view of administration of criminal law and penal justice.

Characteristics of Crime

There are certain characteristics of a crime which make an unlawful act or omission punishable under the law of the land. The main characteristics of a crime are as follows:

(1) External consequences— Crimes always have a harmful impact on society may it be social, personal, emotional or mental.

(2) Act (Actus-Reus)- There should be an act or omission to constitute a crime. Intention or mens-rea alone shall not constitute a crime unless it is followed by some external act. Generally, omitting to do something will not amount to actus reus of an offence. The criminal law usually punishes individuals for positive conduct and not for inaction. There are, however, some notable exceptions. For example, a police officer may have a duty to act to prevent an assault and if he does not, he will be liable to be punished under the law.
(3) Mens-rea or guilty mind- Mens-rea is one of the essential ingredients of a crime. It may, however, be direct or implied. The implied mens-rea is otherwise termed as constructive mens-rea.
Mens-rea implies that there must be a state of mind with respect to an actus reus, that is, an intention to act in the proscribed fashion. It is, however, important to distinguish mensrea from motive. Thus if a person steals away a few loaves of bread from someone's kitchen to feed a child who is dying of hunger, the motive here may be honorable and understandable, nevertheless the mens-rea being to commit the theft, the person would be convicted for theft. His motive may, however, be taken into account in sentencing and he may be less severely punished because of his good motive. In short, motive should be taken into consideration at the sentencing stage and not at the time of deciding the question of mens-rea.
(4) Prohibited act- The act should be prohibited or forbidden under the existing penal law. An act, howsoever immoral, shall not be an offence unless it is prohibited by law of the land.
(5) Punishment— The act, in order to constitute a crime should not i only be prohibited by the law but should also be punishable by the State. The punishment is usually set out in terms of a maximum and the actual punishment in any particular case is left to the discretion of the judge. Both, the defense and the prosecution have a right to appeal against the quantum of sentence.
