Animal Cruelty in India
Since ancient times, India has been considered as a country where animals and birds are not only part of India but also animals are worshiped in India, according to Hindu mythology, cow, tiger, lion, elephant, horse, bull, snake, is worshiped. However, on the one hand, while we mark our devotion to the gods and goddesses in temples, on the other hand, animals are subjected to cruelty in places like circuses.
Cruelty against animals is one of Cognizable Offenses under Section 428 and Section 429 of the Indian Penal Code. There is an urgent need to effectively implement laws meant for animal protection. There also needs to be strict laws for the protection of animals.
Indian Constitution, Indian Penal Code (IPC), Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Slaughterhouse) Rules, 2001, Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 (PCA Act) has many laws. Something for protection, protection, punishment in cases of animal cruelty. Article 48A, Article 51A (G), Sections 428 and 429 of the IPC make rules against animal cruelty among other rules and Acts of the Indian Constitution. Rule 3 of Slaughterhouse Rules, 2001 also states that it is illegal to sacrifice animals in every part of the country. In addition, some wildlife crimes are also investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Humans have experienced depression ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in a lockdown for three months. Critically, it is also a time to reflect on how animals living in zoos and circuses spend the majority of their lives. Some cases of cruelty to animals have come to light in the last few weeks, which have angered many and led one to consider whether the laws in existence are sufficient to protect animals. The most recent of all incidents of cruelty this year has killed a pregnant elephant from Kerala, a pregnant cow from Himachal Pradesh and a jackal from Tamil Nadu. I tell these events together because they contain the same method used to seriously injure / kill them. In all three cases, poor animals were fed explosives that were covered with rough edibles. Recently, a video of crudeness towards dogs was revealed, a woman living in Lucknow hit a small puppy with her foot, this video was also quite viral on Instagram and Facebook, many people protested against it. Many people were also seen protesting against no excuse for animal abuse on such videos, people also requested to arrest that woman from Uttar Pradesh Police. Nowadays, some residents of this country are becoming of a low mindset, by harming animals and brutally killing them and sharing video on socialmedia, during this lockdown, many posts have been shared on social media in which animal killing was done animal killing is more cruel and disgusting crime, now some stringent laws should be enacted against them and the culprits should be punished but yes, salute to those who consider animals as their family and love them as much as their family. The rest is also requested even if you are not an an animal lover, you do not have the right to harm any innocent animal or to play with his life. If you cannot give them love, please maintain distance with them.
STOP ANIMAL CRUELTY |
Recently the Uttar Pradesh government took a step under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to approve the draft Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Cow Prevention of Murder (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020, to protect cows and prevent their slaughter, with a maximum of 10 years of labour. Imprisonment granted. And a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh. Now this ordinance calls for similar and more robust and effective measures to be taken by the Centrein Toto.
